I hate…

The Crazy Frog. I hate it with a passion.

How far has the curse of the frog gone? Is it merely a European thing, or has it crossed over to the US?

If you don’t know what I’m talking about…

DivX (original video that started it all)
MP3 (this will probably the next UK #1)

(hint – the frog is trying to imitate a moped…)

Indian Ocean Earthquakes

Surely 2 of the 3 most holy days in the Christian calendar are Christmas Day, and Easter Sunday1.

1 day after each – the earthquakes occured. If I were a Christian, I’d be kinda worried about the implications of that…

1(The 3rd would be Good Friday)

Statistical surprises

I’ve been looking over my statistics for the last few weeks and have noticed a couple of issues.

The first is that about 20% of my visitors appear to be some porn site sending a bot to my site (but using about 200 different urls for the referrer!) I noticed this because I like to see where my visitors have come from!

In English – I know if you came from Google etc, because Google’s URL was attached to your visit to the page. I had 200 different URLs that had apparently sent visitors to my site, but they all refered to http://blue.sexer.com/. All URLS that point to that site are now blocked from showing in my statistics (reducing my visitor numbers by about 40%).

Another thing I’ve noticed is that someone out there is visiting my page on a semi-regular basis using Netscape 4. This is an incredibly old browser that is virtually useless IMHO. If you visit my browser comparison page you can find a screenshot of Netscape 4 in action. Prepare to laugh!

Bin Laden’s family to do him proud

Bin Laden’s to build world’s tallest building?

Saudi contractors on short list for skyscraper project

Osama bin Laden’s family business is on the short list of contractors bidding to build the world’s tallest skyscraper.

It may seem tragically ironic that the name most closely associated with the destruction of New York’s World Trade Center may soon be associated with the construction of the world’s tallest building.

But, nevertheless, according to officials in Dubai – the site of the Burj Dubai, scheduled for completion in 2008 – that is more than a distinct possibility.

The Saudi Binladin Group, the biggest developer in the kingdom, begun by Osama bin Laden’s father, is in the running for the project.

The skyscraper will be nearly half a mile and about one-third taller than the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. It will include a hotel wing, apartments, offices, entertainment centers and restaurants.

The project also includes one of the world’s largest malls – the Dubai Mall with over 2 million square feet of retail space – and a mock “old town,” making it “a city within a city.”

Record-obsessed Dubai is already home to the world’s largest man-made island, the Palm Jumeirah, and the world’s first seven-star hotel, the Burj Al-Arab.

The Binladin group built its considerable fortune by carrying out many projects for the royal family in Saudi Arabia – including the the expansion of the two holy mosques in Mecca and Medina.

Construction of the Burj Dubai project has already started, with excavation of the site completed recently.

Sales of residential units in the tower will start soon, said an official with Emaar Properties.

Talk Like A Chimp

Apparently us homo sapiens have lost the finer art of communication over the years. We need to use more grunting, more exagerrated facial expressions, and more waving of random objects. And more grooming.

This man should be shot

How many email spam messages do you get a day 40? 50?

Spammers need 1 in 10,000 to respond to make a profit.

This man is one of those 0.01% of the world’s population. Read this article, and wonder how many of these idiots there can really be.
