Excel Cast Editor

How to use

The idea in this Excel sheet is to enter the first, middle and last names and roles each on its own cell. Simultaneously the sheet creates final XML-code in column D.

The usage is quite simple. After you have entered all the names in column C, you just select the whole column D, copy it to clipboard and paste it into DVD Profiler's cast editor window. You can not enter anything else in this sheet except the names in column C. The DVD title can be anything, it just needs to be in the final XML code. All other columns are locked. You can enter as many as 60 cast members with this sheet. If you need more, it is quite simple to edit the sheet.

The only drawback is that you can not use certain characters in this Excel sheet. Eg. ' (as in O'Neill) or ä or ö (as in Räikkönen). You have to replace those characters with their entity references. Included is a table of these replacements in the Excel sheet (the second table tab).

Apostrophe character ' must be replaced with "'" (without the quotation marks). ä must be replaced with "ä" etc.

If you get an error message in DVD Profiler, then first check that there are not any of these characters that need replacement code. Mayby somebody can develop automatic replacement for these characters. If you are not sure about the replacement codes then enter the names without any of these special characters and edit the names later in DVD Profiler.
