The skin is designed to work without any dynamic enhancements. All advanced features can be turned on and off as desired in the customisation section in the file roolku.js in the roolku directory. It is currently set the way I like it, YMMV. Originally suitable only for 1024x768 displays, the skin will now adapt to other window sizes (within limits). note tags --------- You can use the notes area to record additional info about the DVD like an additional title (e.g. original title for foreign films) or when the DVD was last watched. customisation: AKA - display text from notes that is enclosed in as additional title WATCHED - set to display text from notes that is enclosed in as date for when DVD was watched description ----------- DVDPro includes a description field for things like Director's Cut etc. Unfortunately this is by default appended to the title making for clumsy reading. It can now be separated. customisation: DESC - display description smaller and on new line rating icons ------------ Age restrictions can be displayed graphically using the official symbols. Since it is quite tricky, to find those symbols in the required resolution and to make it more flexible, the icons are stored in the ratings folder under images. The convention is _.gif, where locality is the number designating the locality and rating the text. So 0_PG-13.gif would be the icon for the US rating of PG-13. You can supply your own symbols, but remember that they will be shrunk to fit the space, so low resolution images or high resolution monitors are essential. :) customisation: RATING - display rating as icons for selected localities Audio tracks ------------ The boring table can be improved by using the correct (?) terms for the sound formats or graphical representations. customisation: AUDIO - set 2 for verbose display of audio track info set 1 for icon display set 0 for standard display Cover image enlargement ----------------------- An early feature was the large display of both covers when the mouse pointer was over the thumbnail. This has been improved by optionally adding a delay and control over the aspect ratio. customisation: COVER - enlarged cover on mouse over COVERGROW - small pictures should be enlarged to fill display area WAIT_IN_MSECS - delay in ms before cover is enlarged CRITICAL_AR_DIFFERENCE - if the aspect ratio of the picture is different to 0.7 (7:10) by more than CRITICAL_AR_DIFFERENCE don't squish pictures in other words: the smaller the number, the less likely the squishing set to 0 for no deformation ever IVS - load cover images from ivs server - useful when deployed on web Headshot display ---------------- To use this feature you must create a directory called headshots in the image directory of the DVD profiler directory (usually "c:\program files\intervocative software\dvd profiler\images\headshots") and dump your pictures in there. The naming convention is "name.gif" or "name.jpg", where name consists of all parts of the name exactly as spelled in the actor listing. So for Mel Brooks it would be "Mel Brooks.gif" and for Brooks, Mel (setting in DVDPro options) it would be "Brooks, Mel.gif". I suggest you chose one way and stick with it. customisation: HEADSHOTS - set to maximum number of actors (0 for none) for picture display on mouse_over HEADGROW - small pictures should be enlarged to fill display area Gallery: -------- In order to utilise existing poster and gallery pictures, the gallery and slide-show feature was added. For every DVD you need a /images/gallery/ directory. It can contain images of type *.gif, *.jpg, *.bmp and *.png. (see also readme_download.txt). A narrow strip is displayed at the top with characters denoting the gallery items. Posters are indicated by a P, movie trailers by an M and other items are sequentially numbered. Clicking on the strip will oben an explorer window in the gallery directory to help keep the gallery organised. customisation: GALLERY - set true to enable the gallery GALLERYGROW - small pictures should be enlarged to fill display area SLIDEDELAY - set delay between slides in ms ARSORT - set true to sort gallery images by aspect ratio (alphabetical by default) Movie Trailers: --------------- Trailers are stored in the gallery directory similar to gallery images. The skin looks for *.mov, *.avi, *.wmv, *.asf, *.mpg and also soundfiles *.wma, *.wav and *.mp3. The skin will only play formats which have a plug-in installed. You can test it by trying to open the file in IE. Movies will play at their standard size. An exception are quicktime (*.mov) files. They will be played a standard size. To override this behaviour you can include the dimensions in the filename. e.g. trailer(320x160).mov or just (480x200).avi. If dimensions are explicitely given, tfactor will be applied. customisation: TFACTOR - multiplicator for size (only when specified in filename) Titles: ------- Typically they are just part of the picture gallery (like posters), but there are two other modes: Hover the mouse over the title area and the text title will be replaced by the gif. If the gif fits into the title area, it can be made the default. In this case it will not be part of the gallery. customisation: TITLE - set for title display ( 0 - gallery only, 1 - display on mouse over and as part of gallery, 2 - display as default if it fits in space Boxset Contents: ---------------- It is possible to display the images of the individual DVDs that form the box set (provided they are part of the collection and linked to the set). The bottom area is used for that since the information is usually useless for a box set anyway. customisation: BOXSET - display individual DVD covers instead of DVD info Region icons ------------ Region and locality can now be displayed by icons. The icons are stored in the regions folder under images. The convention is _region_.gif for region symbols and flag_.gif for a locality flag. type is the number set in the customisation and region is the region-digit or multiple region-digits seperated by "_" for multi region disks. locality is the locality number as explained for ratings. So 1_region_2.gif would be the icon for the the type 1 icon for region 2 disks and flag_0.gif would be the USA flag. You can supply your own symbols, but remember that they will be shrunk to fit the space, so low resolution images or high resolution monitors are essential. :) A number of icons are supplied (I nicked them from the "dtd - Jewel v2.0.dps" skin from http://devoted.to/dvds and hope the creator doesn't mind.) The tricky part are the multi-region disks. I created an example for region 2,4 (most common) and suggest you create the others when they are actually required. There are 3 paintshop pro files to get you started. If someone feels like doing them all, I would like a copy. customisation: REGION - display regions and localities as icons (0 no icons, >0 type of icon) FLAG - display locality flag next to region icon (true) or on mouse over (false) Debug mode ---------- This is useful if images/trailers that you know are there don't show. It prints image info to the overview are. customisation: DEBUG - displays debugging info (true) or not (false) Rainbow Fill ------------ The thing that attracted me to disc-flippers skin was the gleaming rainbow. Unfortunately the background images would only tile by default, resulting in noticable edges, as the gifs were not created as seamless tiles. Finally I managed to autoresize them to fill the space and have the brightest part in the centre. The actual background images reside in images/backgrounds and are named according to their color. They can be replaced by gifs of your choice. customisation: RAINBOW - set 0 for plain background, 1 for tiled bg, 2 for resized bg Action ------ A batch file can be associated with every DVD. It is executed when the title is clicked. The batch files must be named according to the UPC of the DVD and located in a directory called action in the profiler directory (usually "c:\program files\intervocative software\dvd profiler"). customisation: ACTION - set true to activate CINALL ------ To include the front cover in the 'ALL' display activate this option. customisation: CINALL - set true to activate
